Some examples of Vedic Astrology's Unique Specialness:
Rahu and Ketu: The Nodes of the Moon – Destined experiences in your life and the way to enlightened consciousness.
When we are born we are thrown into a set of experiences. In fact, a major part of our consciousness is ‘pre-programmed’. The fact is we will experience certain things. And the fact is our True Self, who exists eternally beyond time and space, actually chose this particular life. Our True Self chose this particular incarnation. It chose this life because this would provide us with the experiences we needed: the experiences we needed for us to have the opportunity to grow spiritually.
Our main incarnational life purpose in this life-time is clearly and surely mapped in the Vedic astrology Birth Chart by the position of the Nodes of the Moon in the chart. Rahu is the North Node, Ketu is the South Node. And their incarnational life purpose meaning is read with reference to (a) the signs they occupy in the Vedic Birth Chart, (b) the houses they occupy, (c) planets conjuncting them, and also (d) which of the 27 the Vedic Lunar Signs (Nakshatras) they occupy.
In fact, the point is that actually each of the planets in the Vedic Birth Chart provides a sure and clear declaration of the way we will experience life. Our True Self chose these experiences when it chose this particular life time to incarnate into. For example, Venus in the Vedic astrology sign of Virgo will attract a cramped experience and expression of love. For example: Jupiter in the 6th House may attract enemies.
And so we set out in this life on a path which is specially chosen for us (although we forget this the moment we are born), and so we will experience the states of mind, the emotions, the people and the events that will attract those sorts of chosen, needed experiences – all this in order for us to spiritually grow.
And so, the North Node, Rahu, impels us into our future in this life time. Rahu drives us forward through these states of mind and these events. The energy of Rahu is voracious for experience. Rahu can be driven and even deluded and he is full of torsion, and we need to develop enlightened consciousness from experiencing this darkness in order to cleanse our Rahu of the surrounding smoke of delusion. But we are destined to experience this. the Divine Purpose in all this is of course to provide us with the opportunity to strip out the darkness and purify our level of consciousness.
The South Node, Ketu, on the other hand, is different. It is also a difficult energy, but Ketu works in a different way. Ketu often works through sudden or sharp or dissolving or shocking experiences. Ketu sucks up the smoke of illusion surrounding the path forged by Rahu in our life. Ketu offers us the way to creating a more enlightened consciousness with which to view our mind and our experiences and the events in our life. Ketu thus offers us a higher level of consciousness that shares in the consciousness of the Divine: a gateway to enlightened consciousness.
Study of the Nodes of the Moon in our Vedic birth chart, and indeed study of all the nine planets of Vedic Astrology thus provides us with a very full and accurate map for understanding our lives and developing enlightened consciousness towards them.
